St Catherine & St Paul
The PCC have decided to support the HABS Christmas Appeal this year.
The HABS team work with families with lots of different needs, from domestic abuse, homelessness,
relationship breakdown to alcoholism, drug abuse and mental health issues plus much, much more. Lots of the families we work with are in very vulnerable situations and have very little money. Some of the cases we supported last year include the following:Children that have lost a parent due to illness, accidents and suicide. Parents that have lost children as above. Single parents that are unable to put electric on the meters or feed children a meal. Families that have fled domestic abuse. Families that have lost their home.
Children that are carers for parents with a disability or mental health issues. Children that have been removed from their parents and placed in the care of a relative. It was with this in mind that we set up our Christmas appeal, which wouldn’t be possible without the kindness and generosity of organisations like yours. It is with this help that we can give the children in these families the opportunity to experience a ‘proper’ Christmas, with a Christmas dinner and gifts to share. At this time of year, we start to take in donations that we can give out to our local families nearer the festive period. We welcome donations of items like:
Gift vouchers – for teenage children,
Bath sets – for teenage children.
Any gift that would be suitable for a child of teenage years, as we always find this age group is lacking for gifts. Pyjamas for all ages,
Slippers for children
Money donations to contribute towards Christmas Food Hampers
I hope this gives you an insight into the work of HABS. Gifts can be left with Mike in the church office (EN11 8TR)
Monday-Friday between 9.30am and 1pm.
