NOT JUST SUNDAYS Weekday ActivitiesWednesday CommunionWe hold a communion service every Wednesday at 10am followed by tea and biscuits. Around 35 people attend the service each week, making for a friendly and caring community. Many people who aren’t able to come to church on Sunday find this service welcoming and accessible and the refreshments afterwards give us a chance to catch up on the latest news and support and encourage one another. At Christmas, we follow the service with a meal at High Leigh conference centre and throughout the year, there are occasions for us to get together socially. Luncheon ClubHeld on the first Tuesday of each month, luncheon club is a great place to meet new friends and enjoy a delicious meal and a very reasonable price. Each month, we serve a different classic English meal and enjoy spending time together. The luncheon club is available for all and costs just £3. Please do come and join us at 12.15pm in the Barclay Hall. Throughout the year, there are other opportunities to join us for lunch. Look out for our Spring Tea, weekly Lent lunches and our Harvest Supper in the autumn. Tuesday GroupAs the name suggests, the Tuesday group meets on Tuesday mornings at 10.30 every fortnight. Over the years, the group has grown so now about 30 people attend each week. Each session stars with a short reflection and a hymn, followed by a guest speaker and finishing with a cup of tea or coffee. The group is open to anyone aged over 60 and is a great place to make new friends and catch up with old ones. You are always welcome to join us. Mothers UnionMothers Union is a very important part of our church life. The group (both women and men) meets on the first Tuesday on every month in the Ark Room (upstairs from the Hunt Rooms) at 8pm. There is always a full and varied programme of speakers as well as regular social events and outings which involve the whole church and wider community. The local Hoddesdon group is also committed to supporting Mothers Union groups in places around the world and regularly fundraises to support projects. To find out more, contact Ellie Perkins at mothersunion@hoddesdonparishchurch.co.uk or go to the Mothers Union website http://www.themothersunion.org.
